Choose the lamp and side table together: support the complete lamp base, clear the shade, and keep useful space within reach. A table can fit beside a sofa yet fail those three checks. Overall furniture size and a styled photograph cannot establish lamp compatibility on their own.

Compare two single-table examples
The light brown T642-2 listing gives approximately 22 W x 22 D x 23.88 H inches and one end table. Its square top is a different shape from the gray/brown T600-6, listed at approximately 24.13 W x 24.13 D x 25.13 H inches with a rounded triangular top. Both are single-table listings, not three-piece coffee-table sets.
Hypothetical calculation: a centered 10-inch-wide base across a confirmed 22-inch-wide surface leaves 12 inches, or 6 per side, along that one line. If the base is rectangular, its depth and corners still need checking. The calculation does not show that a coaster or book fits beside it, nor does it establish a safe load.
Check the full base outline on a shaped top
A triangular tabletop does not fill the rectangle described by its widest width and depth. A rectangular lamp base could cross an edge even when both of its dimensions are smaller than those overall numbers. Trace the lamp base and compare it with a confirmed tabletop outline, rather than subtracting nominal widths.

Confirm load capacity instead of reading shipping weight as a limit
The T642-2 listing mentions about 50 pounds shipping weight and the T600-6 about 42 pounds. Those figures describe shipping, not the weight the tops can support. Neither inspected listing supplies a tabletop load rating. Before choosing a heavy lamp, ask for the model's permitted load and placement guidance, and include other items in the planned load.
Do not assume a stone-look surface is natural stone or that visual thickness establishes strength. Material and care wording may need clarification separately from the size decision.
Test seated use and the cord route
Check switch access, shade position and glare from the seat where the lamp will be used. Reserve a reachable spot for a drink or remote; remaining surface behind a lamp is not necessarily useful. Use a stable existing surface for a trial, not an improvised stack holding a heavy lamp.
Plan a cord route that stays away from walking paths and moving furniture, and follow the lamp manufacturer's instructions. A convenient tabletop position is not workable if it requires a stretched cord across a passage.
